«Unlikely Warriors» is the historical essay by Richard Baxell, published by Aurum Pr Ltd in hardcover (400 pages, in English).
The book reconstructs the history of the Britons who joined the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War: more than 2,500 volunteers, many from the working class, of whom about five hundred did not return. Baxell combines interviews with survivors, British, Spanish and Russian archives, and testimonies from famous and anonymous writers.
Aimed at university students and readers of the history of the Spanish Civil War and European anti-fascism.
