«Velázquez» is the biography of the Spanish painter Diego Velázquez written by Julián Gállego, published by Alianza in paperback (72 pages, in Spanish).
This biography of Velázquez traces the life and work of the painter through the humanity of his models: ladies, servants, dwarfs, drunkards and beggars appear in his paintings as real people, close to the viewer. Julián Gállego analyzes this far-from-idealized gaze and explains how the artist grants dignity to all his figures.
This title is number 51 in the Alianza Cien collection, which brought together biographies of Spanish painters. The edition includes eight color illustrations.
May appeal to university students and readers seeking a brief, illustrated introduction to the figure of Velázquez.
