«Veneza, Um Interior» is Javier Marías's travel essay, published by Relógio D'Água in paperback (64 pages, in Portuguese).
In this brief text, Javier Marías turns Venice into an object of reflection and portrays the double contradictory impression the city produces: that of an absolute harmony, where every urban space is unique and unmistakable, and that of an extensive, fragmented labyrinth, with insurmountable distances and corners that accentuate isolation.
It belongs to Relógio D'Água's Viagens collection, with Portuguese translation by José Bento and Manuel Alberto. The original work was published in 2014.
For readers of travel literature and essays, especially those interested in Venice and in Javier Marías's personal view of the city.
