Baron Heyst, isolated on the island of Samburan, rescues Lena, a young woman trapped in an adverse fate. Settled in a bungalow beside a volcano, they enjoy an apparent calm until three strangers arrive and break it. Rumors and slander then become destructive forces for the protagonist.
