«Vida de una geisha» is the biography of geisha Mineko Iwasaki, written in collaboration with Rande Brown, published in paperback by Ediciones B (288 pages, in Spanish).
Mineko Iwasaki, a geisha from the Gion Kobu district in Kyoto, told her life story to Arthur Golden on condition that her identity not be revealed. After the publication of «Memorias de una geisha» and the subsequent lawsuit, she decided to write her own version: her initiation, learning music, dance and conversation, and the inner workings of the hermetic world of geishas.
Work originally published as «Geisha of Gion», translated into Spanish by María Eugenia Ciocchini. This 2006 edition belongs to the Memorama collection.
Recommended for those seeking the real testimony behind the famous novel and for readers of memoirs and biographies about Japanese culture.
