«Vie amoureuse» is the novel by Israeli author Zeruya Shalev, published by Editions Gallimard in paperback (350 pages, in French).
Ya'ara feels an immediate fascination for Arieh, a childhood friend of her father; the attraction turns into an obsession that leads her to neglect her studies, endanger her marriage, and lose herself. The novel combines the account of that destructive passion with an immersion in Ya'ara's consciousness and the hidden wounds of family history.
Novel translated from Hebrew by Sylvie Cohen; the original title, «חיי אהבה», was published in 1997. This French edition, published on January 27, 2005, belongs to the Folio collection.
