Violeta lives with her mother Camila, a jewelry designer, her father Bonaventura, an architect, and her cat Púding. When her parents work, Norma, the housekeeper, takes care of her. She also has a godmother, Celest, and a godfather, Joan. Violeta has two great skills: climbing trees and playing poker, although her mother does not allow her to do either. She lives in an apartment, and in the back of the building there is a spacious community garden. In the garden there are many boys and girls who are divided into three groups: the napbufs, who are under seven years old; the middle ones, who are between seven and eleven years old (Violeta and almost all her friends belong to this group), and the ganàpies, who are the oldest. Violeta's special friends who live in the houses overlooking the garden are Rosa, her best friend, who is also a classmate, and an eccentric lady named Didí Derota. Violeta is always looking for new adventures and, a few months before this story began, she solved the case of the Pearl of the Orient with Rosa.
