The true story of the survivors of the Andes, protagonists of La sociedad de la nieve, the new and acclaimed film by J. A. Bayona. ¡Viven! El triunfo del espíritu humano recounts this chilling adventure and that of the families of its protagonists, who never stopped looking for them. In 1972, a Fairchild Hiller FH-227 plane of the Uruguayan air force departed from Montevideo, bound for Santiago de Chile, carrying the Old Christians rugby team and their companions. However, a very different destiny awaited them. The infernal weather conditions determined the catastrophe and the plane crashed in the Andes. Only sixteen of the forty-five passengers traveling on the plane survived the accident and the almost three months of indescribable rigors they suffered as a result of hunger, cold and pain. Without other provisions, they were forced to face the horror of feeding on the flesh of their dead companions, in a desperate act to preserve life.
