«Voracidad» is the black humor and social satire novel by Juan Bas, published by Ediciones B in paperback (240 pages, in Spanish).
Pacho Murga, an amoral Bilbao gentleman fallen on hard times, moves through a present-day court of miracles with Ricardo Ares, whose motto is «Mi patria es mi estómago». Compulsive eaters, a ridiculous sect, twins with a terrible secret and a vampiric television producer populate this grotesque satire of politics, nationalism and television.
Voracidad belongs to the Sin Bergüenza collection from Ediciones B. Pacho Murga already appeared in the novel Alacranes en su tinta. The work won the Euskadi Literature Prize 2007 in the Spanish-language category.
Recommended for readers seeking a corrosive and grotesque look at contemporary Spanish society.
