Set in the Wetterau region, the novel begins with the death of Adomeit, a neighbor about whom there are more rumors than certainties. His funeral and the reading of the will coincide with Wäldchestag, the forest festival in the Frankfurt area. Amid conversations and confidences, the novel portrays a man who defied the world and a community seeking the truth.
The cover includes the subtitle «Roman» and the novel was awarded the Aspekte-Literaturpreis in 2000.
For readers of contemporary German fiction who appreciate rural stories told through multiple voices and rumors.
