«Warleggan» is the fourth installment of the Poldark saga, a historical novel by Winston Graham published by Pan Macmillan in paperback (480 pages, in English).
Set in Cornwall between 1792 and 1793, the novel follows Ross Poldark as a speculative mining investment threatens his fortune and his stormy marriage to Demelza. As the old attraction between Ross and Elizabeth resurfaces, Demelza becomes involved with a Scottish cavalry officer. The rivalry between Poldark and Warleggan runs through the plot.
This fourth novel in the Poldark saga was originally published in 1953 under the title The Last Gamble.
For readers of historical novels and family sagas, and for those who came to know the Poldark saga through the BBC series.
