«Zlateh la chèvre et autres contes» is the short story collection by Isaac Bashevis Singer, published by Le Livre de Poche in paperback (117 pages, in French).
Seven traditional tales that recreate the mythical Poland of Jewish folklore: innocents who fish the moon from wells, hopeless gluttons, and a lurking devil who is not always the cleverest. Human kindness and cunning outwit him, and humor and love have the last word.
French edition from 1979. Includes illustrations by Maurice Sendak. Isaac Bashevis Singer was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978.
Recommended for young readers who want to discover Jewish folklore through tales with humor and a moral.
