As a child, Anna Cleary read secretly under her bedcovers with a flashlight to avoid her parents' suspicion.
Inspired by Somerset Maugham, she dreamed of writing in a stone cottage by the sea while wearing a velvet smoking jacket.
Before becoming a full-time author, she worked as a schoolteacher, finding joy in teaching children how to write beautiful stories.
Her writing career began after making a pact with a friend to write the first chapter of a romance novel during their holidays.
With a prolific bibliography of 50 works, Anna Cleary now lives and writes in Queensland, Australia.
