Anne Hampson was a British writer of over 125 romance novels in Mills & Boon from 1969 to 1998. She published historical romance novels under the pseudonym Jane Wilby. Although she retired in 1998, in 2005 she published two romance and a crime novel. She has been written an autobiography entitled Fate Was My Friend.

Anne Hampson was born in England in 1928 and dreamed of being a writer and teacher from the age of six.
Before achieving literary success, she worked making blouses and lived in a tiny caravan.
She fulfilled her dream of studying at the University of Manchester as an adult.
Her career as a novelist took off in 1969 when her first book was accepted just five days after submission.
She published over 200 works throughout her life, including titles under the pseudonym Jane Wilby.
