Philippa Gregory was born in Nairobi, Kenya, before moving to England at the age of two.
Before dedicating herself to literature, she worked as a journalist at the BBC for two years.
She holds a PhD in 18th-century literature from the University of Edinburgh.
Her acclaimed novel The White Queen is one of her most representative works of historical fiction.
In addition to being a novelist, she has taught at various academic institutions such as Durham University.
