Roderic Jeffries was a prolific British author who wrote nearly 200 works throughout his career.
Before dedicating himself to literature, he worked as a merchant navy officer after training at the University of Southampton.
Although he was called to the Bar in 1953, he chose to leave the legal profession to become a full-time writer.
He is world-renowned for his mystery and police procedural novels, notably his series featuring Inspector Enrique Álvarez.
The author lived much of his life in Mallorca, setting many of his stories in Spain.
