Ragnar Jónasson was born in Reykjavik and balances his writing career with his work as a lawyer.
At the age of 17, he began his career by translating 14 Agatha Christie novels into Icelandic.
He teaches copyright law at Reykjavik University and has previously worked as a TV news reporter.
He was the first Icelandic author to have short stories published in the prestigious Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine.
He is the co-founder of the international crime writing festival Iceland Noir, held in Reykjavik.
