«Canciones para después de una guerra» is the documentary by Basilio Martín Patino (1971), on DVD.
A collage of archival footage and popular songs portrays post-war Spain: scenes of hunger, fear and desolation, but also the need to survive by singing. The documentary combines neighbourhood patio coplas, religious devotion, patriotic exaltation, comics and kitsch aesthetics to reconstruct the everyday memory of an entire generation.
