«Encontros e Desencontros» (Lost in Translation) is Sofia Coppola's film (2003), starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, on DVD.
A fading film actor and a young recent graduate meet at a luxury hotel in Tokyo. Amid jet lag and a culture that feels foreign to them, walks, conversations, and a complicity emerge that help them face their loneliness; a sensitive and restrained look at alienation and the desire for human connection.
Winner of the Oscar for best original screenplay and three Golden Globes, including best actor for Bill Murray, best film, and best screenplay.
Intimate drama recommended for those who appreciate auteur cinema and delicate stories about human relationships and urban loneliness.
