The action begins in October 1989, when Alex's mother falls into a coma and wakes up months later without knowing that the Berlin Wall has fallen and the GDR has disappeared. To avoid putting her health at risk, Alex and his neighbors turn their apartment into a bubble where the communist regime still stands, in a farce that becomes increasingly hard to sustain.
