Synopsis of Juan XXIII, el Papa de la Paz
Esta película narra la vida de Angelo Roncalli, quien se convertiría en el Papa Juan XXIII. La historia comienza en 1958, tras la muerte de Pío XII, cuando el anciano Cardenal Roncalli viaja a Roma para participar en el cónclave. Allí, presencia las maniobras políticas y los enfrentamientos entre las facciones eclesiásticas. A lo largo del cónclave, se revelan aspectos extraordinarios del pasado de Roncalli, como su apoyo a trabajadores en huelga, su ayuda a cristianos ortodoxos en Bulgaria y sus negociaciones para salvar a prisioneros judíos durante la guerra. Finalmente, es elegido Papa, tomando el nombre de Juan XXIII.
