«La donna del lago» is the opera by Gioachino Rossini conducted by Riccardo Muti, with June Anderson and Rockwell Blake, on DVD.
In 16th-century Scotland, Elena, the lady of the lake, is caught between the ambitions of King James V and the warrior Rodrigo de Dhu. This Rossini opera, based on Walter Scott's poem, combines the drama of clashing loyalties with the composer's characteristic lyricism.
Recording of the 1992 production at Teatro alla Scala. Audio in Italian (Dolby Digital 2.0), English subtitles, 4:3 picture. Running time: 167 minutes. Edition from the La Scala Collection.
Will appeal to fans of Rossini opera and Teatro alla Scala recordings.
