After the Civil War, Captain Porter is assigned to Texas. His wife doesn't want to go with him, but he convinces her to go and protect those most in need from the speculations of the rich. One of them, Balfour, buys a batch of grain at public auction, but Porter denies him the protection he requests to move it. Taking advantage of the occasion, some bandits attack and set fire to the train car containing the grain. After being reprimanded by his superiors, the captain sets out to find the culprits. The film stars Randolph Scott, Lex Barker, and Phyllis Kirk.
