«Sous le soleil de Satan» is the drama movie by Maurice Pialat (1987), starring Gérard Depardieu and Sandrine Bonnaire, on DVD.
The movie adapts the novel of the same name by Georges Bernanos and follows Abbé Donissan, a rural vicar in Artois plunged into a crisis of faith. After an encounter with the devil, he discovers he can read souls and embarks on a tormented quest for redemption, in a stark drama about guilt, grace and evil.
