«Appalachia Waltz» is the collaborative album by Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Mark O'Connor, released by Sony Classical on CD.
The album brings together three string virtuosos in a repertoire that crosses classical music with American folk traditions: O'Connor's violin and fiddle, Ma's cello and Meyer's double bass converse in original compositions and arrangements. Highlights include «Appalachia Waltz», «First Impressions» and «Fair Dancer Reel».
Recorded in 1996 by Sony Classical. The back cover includes the subtitle «Journey into the Heart of American Musical Tradition» and catalogue SK 6840; it is an audio CD with one disc and a total duration of 69'58".
Suitable for classical and folk music listeners interested in crossovers between chamber tradition and American roots music.
