«Bassoon Kaleidoscope» is the album by bassoonist Bram van Sambeek, released in 2012 by Brilliant Classics, on CD.
The program spans nearly four centuries of bassoon repertoire with works by Böddecker, Rossini, Saint-Saëns, Gubaidulina, Piazzolla, Dubois, Corea and Hagen. It includes the Sonata sopra la Monica, Piazzolla's Café 1930 and Hagen's Harlem Nocturne, in a mosaic of sonorities that shows the instrument's versatility.
Recorded at De Doelen, Rotterdam, in April 2011, with Ellen Corver (piano), Joost Bosdijk (bassoon) and Rick Stotijn (double bass), among others. Total duration: 63'58.
For fans of classical chamber music and uncommon wind instruments as soloists.
