«Birth of the Cool» is the compilation by Miles Davis, released in 2001 by Capitol Records, on CD.
The album brings together twelve tracks recorded in New York between 1949 and 1950. The blend of French horn, tuba and baritone saxophone and a more restrained phrasing than bebop made it a reference of cool jazz. Notable tracks include «Move», «Jeru» and «Venus de Milo».
Remastered edition by Rudy Van Gelder (RVG Edition), with a duration of 35 minutes.
For jazz lovers who want to discover the turn towards cool jazz in Miles Davis's historic recordings.
