«Black Earth» is the album by Fazıl Say, released in 2003 on Valois as a CD.
Black Earth is a sonic journey through Anatolia and the East in which Fazıl Say's piano imitates Turkish instruments and blends folk, jazz, and contemporary classical music. It includes the sonata for violin and piano, the 'Silk Road' concerto, and the Paganini Variations, with Laurent Korcia on violin and Kudsi Erguner on ney.
Black Earth was recorded live at the Lucerne Festival in November 2002 and at the Radio France-Montpellier Festival in July 2000.
For fans of contemporary classical music and the crossover between Turkish tradition and jazz.
