«Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster» is the jazz album by Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster, released in 1992 by Verve Records on CD.
A meeting between two tenor saxophonists: Hawkins and Webster converse across seven swing standards and ballads, with Oscar Peterson on piano, Herb Ellis on guitar, Ray Brown on double bass and Alvin Stoller on drums. Tracks such as «Blues for Yolande» and «It Never Entered My Mind» reveal a warm, elegant sound.
Sessions from 1957 originally released by Verve Records in 1959; this CD, a 1992 German edition, carries catalog number 823 120-2 and AAD mastering.
For fans of classic jazz and tenor saxophone, with an interest in Verve recordings from the 1950s.
