«Espirituals» is the jazz and gospel album by Carles Cases, released by Temps Record on CD (2019).
The album reinterprets traditional Black spirituals from a personal jazz perspective, with a repertoire of religious inspiration and a sober, introspective sound. The cover, with hands bound by chains, reinforces the link between the spirituals' heritage and the expressive freedom of jazz.
