«Requiem (versión 1893)» is the album by Gabriel Fauré, with Philippe Herreweghe and La Chapelle Royale, released on CD by Harmonia Mundi in 1988.
Fauré's Requiem in D minor is a serene and consoling funeral mass, far from the usual drama. This recording offers the 1893 version with La Chapelle Royale, the Ensemble Musique Oblique and Philippe Herreweghe, and includes the Messe des pêcheurs de Villerville. Notable passages include Introït et Kyrie, Pie Jesus and In Paradisum.
European edition of a disc, with Peter Kooy as baritone, Agnès Mellon as soprano and Leo van Doeselaar on the organ.
Aimed at classical music enthusiasts, especially those who value sacred choral music and the French Romantic repertoire.
