«Requiem / Marche funèbre» is the album by Luigi Cherubini, released in 2000 by Naxos on CD.
The Requiem in C minor (1816) was commissioned by the French government to honor Louis XVI; it dispenses with soloists and seeks direct religious communication, stripped of ornament. The Marche funèbre (1820), in ceremonial style, completes the program, with moments such as the Dies irae and the Agnus Dei.
Performance by the choirs and orchestra of Radio Svizzera Italiana, conducted by Diego Fasolis. Catalog 8.554749; DDD recording; total duration 55:35.
For fans of classical music and sacred choral repertoire, particularly requiem masses of classicism and romanticism.
