«First Place» is the single by British band Curiosity Killed the Cat, released in 1989 by Mercury on 7-inch vinyl.
The A-side, «First Place», is a synth-pop track with touches of funk and soul; the B-side, «Ball and Chain», completes the single in the same vein of British electronic pop from 1989. The cover shows the four band members in a retro-looking room.
The single was produced by Nathan East for Eastern Star Productions. «First Place» is credited to Curiosity and McEvoy. The edition is at 45 RPM.
For collectors of 7-inch vinyl singles and for those who enjoy synth-pop and British pop from the late eighties.
