«Five Feet of Soul» is the CD reissue of Jimmy Rushing's jazz and blues album, released in 2003 by Blue Note Records.
Jimmy Rushing showcases his voice with a big band on ten tracks of jazz and jump blues, arranged by Al Cohn. The program mixes standards like «Trouble in Mind» and «You Always Hurt the One You Love» with pieces such as «My Bucket's Got a Hole in It». The edition recovers the original 1963 sessions.
Recorded at Webster Hall, New York, on January 22 and 23, 1963, produced by Jack Lewis. Originally released as Colpix SCP 446; this CD edition was remastered in 24-bit.
Recommended for fans of vocal jazz, jump blues and classic big bands of the 1960s.
