«Gloria & Magnificat» is the album by Antonio Vivaldi performed by Virtuosi Saxoniae and Ludwig Güttler, released in 2014 by Brilliant Classics, on CD.
The CD brings together two sacred works by Vivaldi: the «Gloria» RV589, jubilant in tone, with arias and festive orchestral accompaniment, and the «Magnificat» in G minor RV611, more sober and restrained, in a period-instrument performance. Virtuosi Saxoniae, conducted by Ludwig Güttler, perform with vocal soloists and choir.
The soloists are sopranos Andrea Ihle and Elisabeth Wilke, contralto Annette Markert, and the Hallenser Madrigalisten. Recorded in 1989, with a booklet including notes and the complete sung texts.
For fans of Baroque choral music and period performances of Vivaldi.
