Kill 'Em All is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released on July 25, 1983, through Megaforce Records. The album was recorded on a budget of $15,000, and was originally titled Metal Up Your Ass, but it was changed due to pressure from the record label. Kill 'Em All was considered a groundbreaking album for thrash metal because of its blend of new wave of British heavy metal with hardcore punk tempos. Although not initially a commercial success, it gained a cult following in the underground metal scene and has been reissued several times.
