«La Cantada Española en América» is the baroque music album by Al Ayre Español, Eduardo López Banzo and Carlos Mena, released in 2005 by Harmonia Mundi on CD.
It brings together Spanish baroque cantatas preserved in American archives, with works by José de Nebra, José de Torres and anonymous composers of the 18th century. Carlos Mena, countertenor, performs these sacred pieces with accompaniment of two violins and continuo, in the line of Italian models spread throughout Europe.
The album was recorded by the ensemble Al Ayre Español under the direction of Eduardo López Banzo, with Carlos Mena as soloist.
