«Silva de Sirenas» is the Renaissance vihuela music album by Enríquez de Valderrábano, released by Harmonia Mundi on CD (2005).
The album reinterprets the vihuela book Silva de Sirenas, originally published in Valladolid in 1547, with a selection of instrumental pieces and versions of motets, sonnets and villancicos from 16th-century vocal polyphony. It includes works inspired by composers such as Morales, Josquin Desprez or Verdelot, and stands out for recovering the only surviving vihuela duets in the repertoire, recorded here for the first time.
Recorded by countertenor Carlos Mena and the ensemble Armoniosi Concerti, conducted by Juan Carlos Rivera. It consists of 24 tracks with a total duration of 1 hour and 17 minutes, with a booklet in Spanish, French and English.
Recommended for fans of early music and the Spanish Renaissance vihuela repertoire.
