The quintet led by trombonist Slyde Hyde performs ten jazz standards with Pete Christlieb on saxophone, Tom Ranier on piano, Jim Hughart on double bass and Charles Harris on drums. The repertoire includes «Someone to Watch Over Me», «Lush Life» and «Angel Eyes», with restrained arrangements that leave room for improvisation.
Recorded direct to two tracks at Ocean Way Recording (Hollywood, California) in May 2000. Produced by Jeff Weber and Suzanne Severini for Vertical Jazz Records; cataloged as 5503-2.
For listeners seeking relaxed, romantic background jazz, with particular interest for fans of saxophonist Pete Christlieb.
