«Mackenzie: Scottish Concerto / Tovey: Piano Concerto in A Major» is the album by Alexander Mackenzie and Donald Tovey, released in 1998 by Hyperion on CD.
The CD brings together two rarely recorded British Romantic piano concertos: Mackenzie's Scottish Concerto, Op. 55 and Tovey's Piano Concerto in A major, Op. 15, both in their world premiere recordings. Steven Osborne is the soloist with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Martyn Brabbins.
Volume 19 of Hyperion's The Romantic Piano Concerto series, on a single disc. Catalog number CDA67023.
Will appeal to Romantic piano enthusiasts and collectors of first recordings of little-known British orchestral repertoire.
