«Mozart in Egypt» is the album by Hugues de Courson and Ahmed Al Maghreby, released in 2004 by Virgin Classics on CD.
The album reinterprets famous Mozart works —Symphony No. 40, Piano Concerto No. 23 and the Requiem— with Egyptian instruments, chants and rhythms. The result is a fusion of classical music and Arabic melodies that brings the original scores closer to Egypt's sonic imagination.
Recorded by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra conducted by Milen Natchev, with Mostafa Abd el Aziz and Nasredine Dalil as performers. The CD contains 68 minutes of music.
For fans of Mozart and world music seeking versions with Arabic and Egyptian sounds.
