Nabucco recreates the biblical story of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and his conquest of Jerusalem, with the Hebrew people led into captivity. This live recording, taken in Naples on December 20, 1949, corresponds to a historic performance with Maria Callas among the soloists.
Performers include Callas, Bechi, Pini, Sinimberghi and Neroni, with the Orchestra e Coro del Teatro di San Carlo conducted by Vittorio Gui. The libretto is by Temistocle Solera and the CD edition is remastered and in mono.
