«Nil Lara» is the self-titled album by singer-songwriter Nil Lara, released in 1996 by Metro Blue, on CD.
The album fuses Cuban music with American pop-rock: traditional instruments over a classic electric base, careful harmonies, and a voice that moves from intimate to energetic. The lyrics, simple and unadorned, accompany a sound that balances the richness of world music with the accessibility of pop.
The cover shows a collage in faded ochre and green tones with Cuban banknotes, antique coins, an African mask, and red sealing wax.
For lovers of pop-rock and world music fusions with Cuban roots; guitarists and fans of singer-songwriters will especially enjoy it.
