«Quinto Libro de' Madrigali» is the album by Claudio Monteverdi performed by Concerto Italiano and Rinaldo Alessandrini, released in 1997 by Naive on CD.
The Quinto Libro de' Madrigali marks a step towards more modern writing: the meaning of the text prevails over counterpoint and the expression becomes more dramatic. Pieces such as «Cruda Amarilli» and «T'amo, mia vita» show the use of the basso continuo.
The CD has 19 tracks sung in Italian and a total duration of about 65 minutes. The recording was made in May 1996 and the release was on March 11, 1997.
For classical music collectors and lovers of Italian polyphony, interested in the vocal repertoire of the early Baroque.
