«Roslavets Piano Music» is the album by Marc-André Hamelin released in 2001 on Hyperion CD, featuring piano works by Nikolai Roslavets.
It brings together works for solo piano written by Roslavets between 1914 and 1923, when he was developing his «new system of tonal organization», with synthetic chords and chromatic transpositions. It includes the Piano Sonata No. 5, the Three Studies and the Three Pieces, a sample of the radical Russian avant-garde of the early 20th century.
Recorded at St George's, Brandon Hill, Bristol, in August 1996. CD edition with one disc, published by Hyperion Records (reference CDA66926).
For listeners of 20th-century classical music interested in modern piano and the Russian avant-garde, with an affinity for Scriabin.
