«Sämtliche Baryton Octette» is the album by Joseph Haydn with the Ricercar Consort and Philippe Pierlot, released in 2003 by Ricercar as a double CD.
This double CD brings together all the octets Haydn composed for baryton, a bowed string instrument similar to the viola da gamba and fitted with sympathetic strings, which was the favorite of Prince Nikolaus Esterházy. The Ricercar Consort, conducted by Philippe Pierlot, performs them on period instruments and highlights their chamber-music character within Classicism.
Double CD edition with catalogue number RIC 206, published by Ricercar in 2003.
Suitable for fans of Classical chamber music and of Haydn's work.
