The program brings together arias and capriccios by Tarquinio Merula, performed by soprano Montserrat Figueras alongside Jordi Savall, Ton Koopman, Rolf Lislevand and Andrew Lawrence-King. The historical instrumentation, with viola da gamba, harpsichord and theorbo, recreates the sound world of the early Baroque and alternates vocal and instrumental passages.

The recording is aimed at classical music listeners interested in the vocal and instrumental repertoire of the Renaissance and Baroque.
