«Symphony No. 2 "Little Russian" / Capriccio Italien» is the album by Tchaikovsky, Oslo Philharmonic and Mariss Jansons, released in 1987 by Chandos on CD.
The CD brings together two orchestral works by Tchaikovsky: the Symphony No. 2 in C minor, Op. 17, nicknamed "Little Russian" for its Russian folk themes, and the Capriccio Italien, a brilliant orchestral fantasy of Italian inspiration. Mariss Jansons conducts the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, highlighting the contrast between Slavic folklore and the Mediterranean color of this score.
The recording is digital (DDD) and corresponds to Chandos catalog number CHAN 8460.
For classical music enthusiasts, especially fans of Tchaikovsky's symphonies and Mariss Jansons' interpretations.
