«The Bells / The Rock» is the album by Sergei Rachmaninov released in 2001 by Naxos on CD.
The CD brings together two works by Sergei Rachmaninov: the choral symphony «Las campanas» (The Bells), op. 35, inspired by the poem by Edgar Allan Poe, and the orchestral fantasy «La roca» (The Rock), op. 7. Both works show Rachmaninov's late Romantic language, with colorful orchestration, broad melodies and an evocative character.
Performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir, with soloists Helen Field, Ivan Choupenitch and Oleg Melnikov, conducted by Alexander Anissimov.
For fans of Romantic classical music and Rachmaninov's choral symphonic repertoire.
