«The History of Acid Jazz: The Gold Collection» is a various-artists compilation, released in 2000 by the Retro label, on double CD.
The album brings together 32 acid jazz tracks from the second half of the 1990s, with cuts fusing jazz, funk and soul with electronic rhythms. Among the artists featured are Galliano, Mother Earth, Brand New Heavies, James Taylor Quartet, Vibraphonic, Night Trains, Gregory Isaacs and New Jersey Kings, along with other figures of the movement.
The «Deluxe» edition comes as a two-CD case with a 20-page booklet with photographs. The title on the cover includes the subtitle «Hot Chillouts», although the main title is «The History of Acid Jazz: The Gold Collection».
